📍LIVE STREAMS - Since all of us had to stay at home, we weren’t able to socialize with their friends and family. This led to an uptick in the number of people tuning into live-streams, whether it was a branded live-stream, a live video from their favourite celebrity, or an online workshop. Studies show, that Facebook live viewings spiked by 50% during lockdown periods, while viewings on Instagram surged 70%.

📍INFLUENCER CONTENT - Since the start of the pandemic millions of people started to post more which increased their follower numbers and allowed them to become influencers. Multiple companies used social media influencers to promote their products which worked magic due to the content reach during pandemic and time spent on social media. Looks like this year is no different, influencer marketing will be booming, so do not miss the opportunity!

📍SUSTAINABILITY - Studies show that 81% of consumers strongly feel that companies should help improve the environment.

The hunt for a greener planet continues, and consumers are actively seeking out brands that are purpose-driven and conscious about the environment. As the world remains a fragile place, it will be key for brands to reiterate their sustainability in 2021.

📍HUMAN RIGHTS - Inclusivity and equality also became a bigger focus in 2020, with the Black Lives Matter movement highlighting endemic issues that linger within various elements of society.

Studies show, that the cultural shift towards inclusivity is also impacting purchase behaviour, with 41% of shoppers shifting away from retailers which don’t reflect their views on identity and diversity - and 29% are willing to switch brands completely if they don’t show enough diversity.

Be wise and plan your content strategies around these hot topics and trends so your brand can move side by side with the changing environment.
